Housing on the Arsenale

Fall 2011

Completed together with the project on the Piazza all Signoria in Florence, the Arsenale is also read as a four-square, with the growth and development of the four darsene, or basins of Venice’s storied shipyards having multiplied through the systematic fabrication of artificial islands over the years.  One half of the largest basin is filled-in with housing units, figured as a new series of canals and islands – Venice in miniature.

Completed with Zachary Heaps as an Advanced Studio under Peter Eisenman while at Yale University.
